How to Add Color to Your Home

There’s no question that color is a big interior design trend in 2023 and 2024. After years of neutral spaces, we are seeing blues, greens, and even reds creep back into furniture, fabrics, paint colors and more. Luckily, at Lark, we’re experts at introducing color into a space. Here’s our top tips on how to implement this trend in your home.

We love painting the walls, trim, and ceiling all the same color for an instantly cozy effect like we did in this Preston Hollow front room. If you’re afraid of color, you can try a bright shade in a smaller spot, such as in a powder bathroom or within the shaker panel of an interior door. But don’t be afraid to go bold! As one designer once said: it’s not a tattoo — it’s just paint! And if you are looking for that perfect shade head over to this blog post to find out our go-to paint colors.

We use colorful artwork in nearly every project we do. Colorful art (especially when it’s large scale) can do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to adding visual interest and pulling a space together. If you don’t have the space or the budget for a large piece of art, try layering in smaller pieces into built-ins like we did in this Dallas living room. Gallery walls are another way to use art to introduce a fresh color palette into your home.

Wallpaper is a trend that has been going strong for awhile now. And for good reason. It’s a great way to create high impact in a small space. It can provide color AND pattern AND texture all in one. This powder bathroom in one of our new construction projects is a great example. The gray, geometric grasscloth provided the perfect punch to this otherwise very simple space. This room wouldn’t have felt the same without it!
